Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. "But do thou for me, O GOD the Lord, for thy name's sake: because thy mercy

good, deliver thou
me. For I
am
poor and needy, and
my heart is wounded
within me" (Psalm 109:21-22;
bold added). I was reading in the Psalms and this verse caught my attention. Have you ever been wounded-in-heart?
My Lord says unto you and me, "Come unto me, all
ye
that labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke
is
easy, and my
burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30).
The Scripture speaks of Jesus and tells us, "A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory" (Matthew 12:20). He is so gentle that a reed that is bent and needs only a touch to break, He will not break. That smoldering flax which needs only a breath to go out, He will not put out. That is how gentle our Lord is.
The LORD speaking through Jeremiah tells us about the people of that day, "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where
is
the good
way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk
therein
" (Jeremiah 6:16). There is an old path where the good way is. Our LORD
promised rest for their souls, but they would not walk the way therein to find it.
There is a song I love: "I Must Tell Jesus" by Elisha A. Hoffman. A beautiful hymn about seeking aid from our Lord. "I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus! I cannot bear my burdens alone. / I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus! Jesus can help me, Jesus alone" (3-4).
"Come unto me, all
ye
that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take
my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke
is
easy, and my burden is light." There is hope for the
wounded heart because there is a balm in Gilead.
