Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I would like to share with you how I pray for my children, and why I call them by name. I pray for my sons and their wives, and each of my daughters and their husbands-to-be, and for their children-to-be, and their children's spouses-to-be, and for their children's children and their spouses-to-be unto the thousandth generation.
Grace to you.
Ekklesia,
I ask the LORD for His commitment and thank Him for it (for He says, "Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands, command ye me" (Isaiah 45:11)). Because He has created them, I confess they are His and command Him. Can you believe that?! To work in the hearts of His children is something He wants to do so badly, and He is just waiting for us to ask. When we do it, it is as if we commanded Him!
I ask that all my children will be taught of Him because He says, "And all thy children
shall be
taught of the LORD; and great
shall be
the peace of thy children"
(Isaiah 54:13). Our Lord Jesus refers to this verse when He says, "It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me" (John 6:45). He also says, ". . . I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6).
I ask that He will cause them, each one, to know Him, or rather to be known by Him (Galatians 4:9). I ask Him to give them each a love of the truth and help each of them receive it that they might be saved (2 Thessalonians 2:10). I pray that from childhood they will, each one, know the sacred writings which are able to make them wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus (2 Timothy 3:15).
Well, you get the flavor of how I pray for my children. I want you to know that you can claim these promises for your children and not just for young children. Just as I pray for my adult children, so can you.
