Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad with exceeding joy" (1 Peter 4:12-13). When we suffer aren't we prone to imagine that such a thing has never happened to anyone else? Peter tells us, "No. It's not some strange thing." He also tells us that we can rejoice in the sufferings.
Grace to you.
Ekklesia,
What else should we do when we are suffering?
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle
you.
- 1 Peter 5:8-10
Remember how we were talking about maturity? Suffering helps mature us (perfect us).
"Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls
to him
in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator" (1 Peter 4:19). Aren't you glad
God never has to say, "Oops!"
Faithful Creator, unto You commit we the keeping of our souls just as our Lord Jesus showed us.
