Beloved: Grace and Peace

Dearest and Beloved
Source of Strife
Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. James asks us, "From whence
Grace to you.
wars and fightings among you?
your lusts that war in your members?" (James 4:1).
The fightings and wars among us come from wanting to please ourselves and to get what we want. One of my daughters told me a story once to encourage me. I would like to share it with you now.
She told me that she and her sisters had been fighting a lot, and that got her attention. She called it "the biggest piece of cake" syndrome. She thought she should get the biggest piece cake because she's the oldest. Her sister thought she should get the biggest piece because she's the youngest.
My daughter told me that she needed to change. She began serving her sisters and letting them choose which piece of cake to get. She told me she discovered that her feelings towards her sisters began to change. She started to love them more. My wife said that when we serve someone we leave a part of our self in them; and what we invest in, we love.
"For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love . . . . For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only
not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another" (Galatians 5:6, 13).
Genuine faith shows itself by its love. By that love we learn to serve one another.
I told my daughter that she is well on her way to becoming a wise woman. She taught me.
