Beloved: Grace and Peace
Elkmont Baptist Church
Dearest and Beloved
The Way to Peace
Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I am struggling with what to write, so I will simply record Paul's words to his beloved congregation.
Grace to you.
Rejoice in the Lord always:
again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be
known unto all men. The Lord
at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing
by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things
just, whatsoever things
pure, whatsoever things
lovely, whatsoever things
of good report; if
any virtue, and if
any praise, think on these things. Those
things, which ye have both learned, and recieved, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
- Philippians 4:4-9
The Philippians learned from Paul and recieved from Paul and heard from and saw him do these things: rejoicing always in the Lord, showing moderation before all men, numbering his requests to the Lord by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, and taking all his thoughts captive. The Holy Spirit, through Paul, promises if we do these things the God of peace shall be with us. May it be so with each of us.
